Air Cooling

Air-cooled compressors with marine quality condensers are suitable for Northern European waters or air-conditioned power boats in warmer climates. The installation of air-cooled equipment requires the air to be forced through the condenser set. The cooler the air flow the more efficient the system, however mounting a compressor in a bilge is not advisable as the electrical components can be damaged.

Water Cooling

If the vessel is going to be used in warmer climates water-cooling is imperative. The obvious benefit is the ambient water temperature even in tropical conditions is lower than the cabin air temperature thus reducing the work load on the compressor. The less running time on a compressor the less battery drain.

Water-cooling is a proven method in many applications such as engine, generator and air conditioning systems were air-cooling is rarely considered if water-cooling is available.
